According to the Urban Dictionary, a nipple orgasm is defined as an orgasm produced by gripping, pinching, clamping, biting, sucking or otherwise stimulating the nipple. The first time we came across this phenomenon (yup, that’s what we are calling it: a phenomenon), there were questions raised if this was for real.

For all those who are wondering if this is even true or if there is such a thing as a ‘nipple orgasm’: The answer is yes, it is.

In 2011, Rutgers University researchers discovered that not only does vaginal stimulation activate different brain regions than that of the clitoris, but also explained why some women can orgasm through nipple stimulation alone. Turns out, your brain knows the difference.

Nipples are the second most erogenous zones of the body next to genitalia. You must have noticed how quick and easy it is to erect ‘em nipples — both in women and men — and that is because of the presence of over 800 nerve endings. These stimulations can sometimes lead to an orgasm, but it varies from one person to another. You need to treat them as individuals and while there are many guides available out there, on how to ‘nipple orgasm’, it is best if you experiment on your own and develop your own technique.

Science has also shown that nipple stimulation releases oxytocin — also, referred to as the love hormone — which induces relaxation. For women, the size of the breasts don’t matter and the sensitivity of the nipples and breasts often change depending on the menstrual cycle, with less sensitivity in the first two weeks, heightened sensitivity during ovulation, and lessened sensitivity during menstruation.

While some research is still inconclusive, there are studies that show men can and do in fact have orgasms from nipple stimulation alone.

An anonymous man remarked on Datalounge,

“It’s an absolutely essential part of sex for me and, yes, I have on more than a few occasions achieved orgasm just from manipulating my nipples. Go for it. It’s the gift that keeps on giving.”

Making someone orgasm is an art in itself. One cannot merely get it right the first time round or memorise it like  a lesson. Recognising the fact that each person’s breast and what turns them on are different, one has to improvise according to those needs.

Unfortunately, there isn’t an easy how-to guide on how one can reach a nipple orgasm but miracles happen. If you play around with the right kind of pressure, motion, and intensity along with your partner, there is a chance you’ll get there.
