To beard or not to beard, that has always been the question. But since the millennial world has introduced the idea that beards are super cool, they've become as trendy as ever.
However, it might be the time to pick up that blade and chop off that black lawn from your face. Why?
A study done at Hirslanden Clinic in Switzerland determined that men's beards have more germs than a dog's fur.
The researcher's purpose was to find out whether dogs and human beings can be tested in the same MRI scanner. 18 bearded men and 30 furry dogs were chosen for the study and the results showed that all the men had high microbial counts in comparison to the 23 out of 30 dogs.
They even compared the microbial count of a scanner used by only humans and the joint scanner used for the study. Turns out the one used by humans had a high count of bacteria as compared to the one used by both dogs and people.
Study author Andreas Gutzeit said,
On the basis of these findings, dogs can be considered as clean, compared with bearded men.
Another thing they discovered was some of the bearded men had such high microbial count that they could fall terribly sick.
Maybe it's time to hit the barber.
