Netflix’s hauntingly dark series Black Mirror is all set to fuck up our minds again with its fourth season launching on December 29th.

Set in a dystopian world where the lines between everything real and virtual are blurred, the Charlie Brooker show has enthralled us all.

Amidst all the things about this show that make our mind go haywire, one thing is the reason behind the show’s title. Yes, we have our own theories regarding its significance, but now we have an answer from the man behind the show’s existence.

And it’s something that didn’t occur to most of us.

Charlie Brooker, the creator of Black Mirror, told Channel 4, “What I took it to mean was when a screen is off, it looks like a black mirror. Because any TV, any LCD, any iPhone, any iPad – something like that – if you just stare at it, it looks like a black mirror, and there’s something cold and horrifying about that.”

He further added, “And it was such a fitting title for the show. I mean I don’t know what else we would’ve called it – Spooky Technology Time?! It would’ve been rubbish.”

His brilliance reflected in his statement, “I quite like the fact that people are watching it on their TV or on their laptop, or their smartphone or whatever, and then as the end credits start running and the screen cuts to black, they see themselves reflected.”

So it wasn’t just the dark reflection on the way we are living our life or what the future holds for us.

The vision behind the satirical show had a crucial message for all of us even in its title.
