With the 3rd instalment of the Thor franchise, ‘Ragnarok‘ coming to theatres, fans are divided into two factions – the ones that waiting for exciting new developments to happen and the others who already know what’s in store. Fortunately, I’m a happy mix of both, mostly because when there’s an exciting ensemble cast, a gripping backstory and Internet timelines filled with fan theories, it’s really not easy to keep calm. So after biting back all the excitement, fangirling and extreme nerd-dom, here’s what I think you can expect from the thundering third sequel. Valhalla, be praised!

1. Ragnarok predicts Armageddon

Screen Rants

Every culture has its own way of portraying the end of the world as we know it and the Marvel multiverse takes its inspiration from Norse Mythology, no less! If you look up the term in an encyclopaedia, Ragnarok is a cataclysmic event that has major Gods, monstrous creatures battling it out and ultimately ending life. Considering how the actual mythological depiction foresees the end of Odin, Freya, Heimdall and even Loki for that matter, it will be super interesting to see which Gods actually make it and which among the pantheon bite the dust.

2. Get your tissues out, ’cause Thor might die!

CBR.com

Speaking of biting the dust, if you guys remember Tony Stark’s apocalyptic vision in Avengers: Age Of Ultron, you’d recall seeing the Son of Odin dead. If rumours and mythology must be believed then it’s possible that our hammer-wielding God might not make it out alive in this one. After the war, Thor is supposed to discover the treachery by Those Who Sit In The Shadows and sacrifice himself to save Asgard and the Nine Realms. Given that Chris Hemsworth is slated to appear in Avengers: Infinity War, it will be exciting to see how mythology is adapted for the screen.

3. The ultimate Thor & Hulk showdown is on the cards too.

Screen Rant

We’ve seen it in the trailers and us, comic book nerds have feverishly obsessed over the sparring of the two giants, but nothing beats watching it all happen on the big screen. The last we saw of Hulk was when he flew the Quinjet to an unknown location to get away from all. How he manages to end up in the Nine Realms might have something to do with the Planet Hulk storyline. Nevertheless, we’re all waiting with bated breath to see Hulk smash Thor and vice versa!

4. Thor loses Mjölnir, again!

CBR.com

Seriously, you’d assume that the great God of Sky and Thunder would have a little control over his all-powerful weapon, but no! To see Cate Blanchett’s character, Hela stop a hurtling Mjölnir like she’s flicking a feather off is fascinating and disturbing at the same time. And if we remember correctly, the God-hammer can only be stopped or lifted by ‘the worthy.’ So the implication that Hela, the antagonist of the film might win the ultimate weapon is exciting me to no ends! Omgomgomg…

5. Thor might have a new love interest in Valkyrie.

CBR.com

All Jane Foster fans might be disappointed to know that Natalie Portman will not reprise her role. But here’s good news too, an Asgardian warrior Goddess by the name of Brunnhilde will join the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Valkyrie. And despite our desperate ‘shipping for Thor and Jane, an immortal warrior Goddess like her will be an infinitely better fit for the Hero Divine. Only time will tell if Tessa Thompson does the role of Valkyrie justice.

6. Cate Blanchett as Hela might have a bigger agenda in the story than being just a villain.

Screen Rant | Art by Xteve Abanto

First off, the edgy and goth-looking Cate Blanchett stopping the Mjölnir with a flick of her palm and a chilling smile had fans across the world #ded with excitement. But that’s not all Hela is up to. The Asgardian ruler of Death, of Hel & Niflheim, might feature in Avengers: Infinity War as Thanos’ object of affections and the harbinger of the end! Wait, whaa? Is this the character for which Thanos wants to bring the Infinity Stones together and destroy creation?? If that didn’t blow your mind, then you, my friend are unfeeling AF!

7. The final Infinity Stone might make an appearance here. Yaaas!

CBR.com

Let’s count, shall we? The Space Stone appeared in Avengers‘ Tesseract, the Power Stone in Guardians of The Galaxy‘s Orb, the Reality Stone from Aether in Thor: The Dark World, the Mind Stone in Chitauri’s sceptre and eventually as Vision’s principal weapon and the Time Stone in Doctor Strange‘s Eye of Agamotto. This leaves the Soul Stone from the comic books and Thor: Ragnarok seems like the perfect setting for this introduction.

8. The movie will feature Doctor Strange too. Yaay!

CBR.com

If you’re anything like me, then you’d already have pieced together Easter eggs from all the post-credit scenes from movies in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (pat yourself on the back!) If you remember the ending to Doctor Strange, it has Strange meeting Thor and asking about his father Odin. And while the makers have confirmed that a possible on-screen collab is on the cards, only time will tell how meaty a role does the Doctor snag in this film. Also, a Norse God & the Sorcerer Supreme facing off against enemies is worth a watch.

If these facts have your mind sent into a tizzy, then you’re not alone! Such is the madness of the Marvel movies that it’s difficult not to lose oneself in its plot turns. Considering how sleek this movie looks from the trailer alone, it is not difficult to imagine a more suited partnership than Thor: Ragnarok & OPPO F5 Selfie Expert And Leader. Loaded with futuristic features, A.I. Beauty feature, FHD+ display and 20 MP selfie camera among others, here’s a phone that’ll excite you as much as the upcoming movie will.
