It started with Hrithik and Kangana being the front runners for the lead pair of Aashiqui 3. Followed by Hrithik staying put as the hero and Kangana being shown the door. The entire episode resulted in some epic headlines and great prime time melodrama. Unfortunately, after all that chaos even Hrithik is not a part of the musical franchise any more.

It was Kangana’s reaction on losing out on Aashiqui 3 that blew the whole matter out of proportion followed by the legal tug of war.

When Kangana was approached by the media for her reaction she had said,” Many lame rumours are doing rounds, even a dumbass can tell where these rumours are coming from. I don’t know why exes do silly things to get your attention. For me that chapter is over and I don’t dig graves.”

Cutting all the drama now, producer Mukesh Bhatt has now confirmed that Sidharth Malhotra and Alia Bhatt have been signed for the third installment of Aashiqui, as the duo are perfect for the roles. Aashiqui 3 will be the lead pairs third outing after films like Student of The Year and Kapoor & Sons

“Yes, it is true. We have signed Sidharth and Alia for the film. They completely fit the role. When we make films we look for the perfect casting. They both fit the bill,” Bhatt told PTI.

First part of the musical-romantic-drama was released in 1990 and went on to become one of the biggest hits. It’s sequel, Aashiqui 2 in 2013 was directed by Mohit Suri and starred Shraddha Kapoor and Aditya Roy Kapur which also did decent business.

Mohit Suri will return to helm the third installment of the successful franchise. When asked if the film will go on floors this year, Bhatt said, “We are currently in the process of figuring out the dates and other detail. It will be decided soon on when it goes on floors.”

After all that ensued, It will be a refreshing change to see Alia and Sidharth work their chemistry on screen to make Aashiqui 3 a successful one just like their last two films together.
