The trailer of Akshay Kumar, Sonam Kapoor and Radhika Apte starrer film Padman is out.

At a time when talking openly about menstrual bleeding, sanitary pads and PMSing is still considered to be a taboo, film Padman manages to bring up the issue effortlessly, just as Akshay Kumar did in his last film, Toilet: Ek Prem Katha

This is a comedy-drama film that has been written and directed by R. Balakrishnan aka R. Balki and is based on Twinkle Khanna’s book, The Legend Of Lakshmi Prasad, which is inspired from the life of social activist, Arunachalam Muruganantham. The story revolves around this man from Tamil Nadu, who revolutionized the concept of menstrual hygiene in rural India by creating a low-cost sanitary napkins machine.

While Akshay Kumar essays the role of Lakshmikant Chauhan in the film, Radhika Apte feature as his on-screen wife and Sonam Kapoor’s character seems to be of someone who supports his dream of spreading the awareness.

Amitabh Bachchan’s husky voice in the trailer engages us from the very first shot and we just cannot wait to see him in his special appearance role in the film.

The film has been jointly produced by Sobhan Soren, Twinkle Khanna, Gauri Shinde, Anil Naidu Prashant, Prernaa Arora and Arjun N. Kapoor.
