Ace shuttler Saina Nehwal seems quite excited about the fact that filmmaker Amol Gupte is making a biopic on her. And she also has a very clear choice on who should play her.
When asked about which actress would Saina prefer to play her in the biopic, she responded, “Of course, Deepika Padukone.”
Speaking during the NDTV Indian of the Year award held in the national capital, she said:
”She used to play badminton. Her father was a badminton player. I think she would do good justice to the role. I wish she could do the role.”
Deepika, who was also present at the ceremony, said she would love to essay the titular role on silver screen.
“We have played together many a times and she was always way better than me. I think we had fun times together. Anything for the love of sport and especially for badminton,” she said.
The biopic is going to trace the journey of Saina- the first Indian to win a medal for badminton at the Olympics. Will the producers of the biopic pull off the casting coup that Saina wants?
