Vikram Seth’s classic novel ‘A Suitable Boy’ will be adapted into a series soon and will have Ishaan Khatter and Tabu in leading roles, reports BBC.
The 6-episode series will stream on BBC One and will be directed by Monsoon Wedding and The Namesake fame Mira Nair.
The producer of the series will be Andrew Davies, who has previously been associated with movies like Pride and Prejudice, War & Peace and Les Misérables.
Tanya Maniktala will also be a part of the cast and will play the lead role of Lata.
A Suitable Boy is the story of Lata, trying to find a voice in the 1951 India when the country itself was trying to find its identity.
Excited about this new project, Tabu told BBC:
Coming together with Mira after The Namesake is a thing of great joy for me. And to collaborate with her and the BBC for Vikram Seth’s book is something I’m so looking forward to. Along with being a dedicated and engaging film maker Mira is also someone who is the most fun to work with.
With such big names associated with the project, we are excited for it to release soon.
