A Mumbai court on Friday stayed the release of a short film ‘Hum Kuchh Keh Naa Sakey‘ on TV actress Pratyusha Banerjee, who had allegedly committed suicide at her Mumbai apartment last year on April 1.
According to a Bombay Times report, TV actress Kamya Punjabi on Monday had announced to release the film online in the memory of her best friend,
Pratyusha had risen to fame playing the titular role in TV serial ‘Balika Vadhu’.
Punjabi has reportedly claimed that the film was shot one-and-a-half months prior to Pratyusha’s death and therefore is the last project she worked in.
The report says that the story of the film revolves around heartbreak and depression, which were allegedly the reasons behind the actress’s drastic step.
Actor-producer Rahul Raj Singh, Pratyusha’s former boyfriend, filed a complaint against Punjabi and also approached a court seeking to stop the film’s release.
Singh, who has been accused of abetting the suicide, contended that the release of the film may prejudice the case against him.
Speaking to the Indian Express, Punjabi, who’s constantly in touch with Pratyusha’s parents, said that they are better than before as with this short film, they have something to look forward to. She also said she would continue to fight for justice till the end.
