It’s no longer a secret that Phoebe Waller-Bridge (of Fleabag fame, and of course, an all-around badass) has come on board as a writer for the latest Bond film No Time To Die

Though Phoebe has proved her fabulous writing skills with two amazing, well-received series (Fleabag and Killing Eve), a reporter still believed that she was selected for the Bond films because of her ‘gender’. But actor Daniel Craig sure set him straight.

Reporter Jonathan Dean had commented about Phoebe’s involvement by stating, ”A cynic might suggest the new recruit has been chosen to help the film look more representative”.

And during an interview, he apparently asked something similar to Daniel, to which he got the following response:

Look, we’re having a conversation about Phoebe’s gender here, which is fucking ridiculous. She’s a great writer. Why shouldn’t we get Phoebe onto Bond? That’s the answer to that. I know what you’re trying to do, but it’s wrong. It’s absolutely wrong. She’s a fucking great writer. One of the best English writers around. I said, ‘Can we get her on the film?’ That’s where I came from.

*Is there an award for the Best Interview Response Ever? Could we nominate Daniel Craig for it?*

Phoebe has proved that she is one of the most amazing and original writers, with her shows Fleabag and Killing Eve being regarded as two of the finest shows to emerge in recent times. In fact, she even won an Emmy for Outstanding Writing for Fleabag. Thus, to assume that her gender had anything to do with her selection as a writer for the Bond film is definitely sexist. And Daniel Craig’s response is exactly what we’d expect from the 21st century Bond!
