There’s more than one reason why we’re excited about the new Disney-Pixar film Finding Dory. For those who don’t know who Dory is, she’s the Pacific regal blue tang fish from the 2003 hit, Finding Nemo.
This is Dory.

Nemo and Marlin’s friend who suffers from short-term memory loss.

And she’s voiced by the super-cool Ellen Degeneres.

Here’s the latest trailer for the film.
But another thing that Twitter users pointed out, which we quite carelessly missed, was the couple they showed in the trailer for like a split-second.
That new #FindingDory trailer released this morning? I think that’s the first lesbian couple in a @DisneyPixar film. pic.twitter.com/S1wwJEOeWT

Them.
Look closely. They’re not your everyday heteronormative couple. Yes, Pixar just used what looks like a lesbian couple in a short scene. Actually, the duration doesn’t matter. The fact that a lesbian couple, and that too one with a child, is shown as a totally normal thing, is a huge deal.
Looks like Disney-Pixar is being hella inclusive and that’s awesome!
And just in case you’re one of those who’s not happy about this news, do you not know who Ellen Degeneres is?
