Let us just begin by telling you that if this was any other season, The Spoils of War would be Episode 9. Shit goes down in this episode. We know, from the trailer for this episode that Daenerys Targaryen is still sitting at Dragonstone and according to her, is losing the war. We can’t really blame her for thinking so. Tyrion Lannister’s schemes and strategies have failed miserably.  All of Khaleesi’s allies are either dead or defeated and every other big house from South of the Riverlands is at war with them, leaving her with Jon Snow and the rest of the North as possible allies. We get to a part of the storyline that has been spoken about so much, Daenerys Targaryen and Jon Snow. The two rulers, finally meet alone in a cave, and well, let’s just say, the Dragon Queen is a little more inclined to believe the Bastard King now.  

Meanwhile, the other Stark kids are back at Winterwell. Brandon Stark seems to have taken on the mantle of the Three-Eyed Raven, even refusing to acknowledge himself as Bran Stark to Meera, before parting ways with a cold “Thank you”. 

However, it seems the Stark reunion hasn’t stopped Littlefinger’s schemings. He gifts Bran with the Valyrian steel dagger that had once been given to assassinate him.

What’s interesting about the dagger is that we have seen it in one of the books Samwell Tarly was reading about the Night King. Could it possibly take the Night King’s life?

Meanwhile, Ser Jaime Lannister and Ser Bronn, along with the Tarly forces and the Lannister army return to King’s Landing with riches to pay off the entire debt of the Iron Banks of Braavos, following their success at High Garden. And all looks fine for Queen Cersei as the Iron Bank representative, Mycroft Holmes  Tycho Nestoris speaks of further major investments in the crown, supporting her in the Great War.

Back in Dragonstone, Theon Greyjoy arrives with the only remaining ship in their armada, asking for Daenerys but finds an angry Jon Snow waiting for him at the shores, informing her that the Dragon Queen was not on the island.

Where was she, you ask? Well, we get back to the scene, where the Lannisters are on their wau to King’s Landing, sending the riches and the food stock into the Capitol to store for winter and the Great War. It was then, that they hear battle cries of Dothraki. And as the Late King Robert Baratheon had once said,

“Only a fool will meet the Dothraki in an open field”.

And the Dragon Queen was here too, justifying her many titles.

Well, we will not spoil the battle for you. Just remember, dragons are no longer unkillable.
