Long before the recent couples were busy sweeping Favourite Jodi awards at various Indian television award shows, Karan and Nandini were winning hearts in Kyunki… and long before that, as Pratham and Gauri in Kutumb. 

Needless to say, Hiten Tejwani and Gauri Pradhan are Indian television’s favourite couple.

Before all the TV shows, we first saw them all those years ago in this TVC for Breeze:

Very few people know this but Hiten and Gauri first met at an airport.

As Hiten recalls it:

“We first met each other, not exactly met but saw each other at the Mumbai airport. We were on our way to shoot for an advertisement and we didn’t even know that we were paired with each other. The agency introduced us at the Hyderabad airport after we landed.” 

Few months down the line, Kutumb happened and Indian television had found its golden couple in the hit pair.

 One hit TV series after another, they got to know each other, and eventually fell in love.

As Hiten fondly remembers it:

“She just said hi and bye to me for about six months, and then one day madam smiled at my jokes. I told her, ‘You must be laughing out loud at my jokes in your room right?” We started talking after that, then we started going out and we knew that we are serious about each other.”

Hiten Tejwani And Gauri Pradhan eventually tied the knot on on April 29, 2003, in Gauri’s hometown Pune.

And they only have had nice things to say about each other.

According to Hiten:

“She’s very caring and not just for me or the kids. If she knows you, she will go out of her way to help you. I love her the way she is. I don’t want to change anything. We have accepted each other the way we are.”

According to Gauri:

“He is a very happy guy, always positive and so entertaining that because of him I really don’t have to put on the television. But he can be taken for granted easily. I want him to learn to say no sometimes.”

Hiten and Gauri were partners on Nach Baliye Season 2:

In November of 2009, Gauri and Hiten became the proud parents of twin girls, Nevaan and Katya.

Well, the highlight of their silver screen career would undoubtedly be them starring together as Karan and Nandini in Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi…

Hiten is now a strong contender on Bigg Boss Season 11 and his stint there has been admirable so far. 

This week, the Bigg Boss house decided to surprise the inmates with a family reunion of sorts. Though it was emotional to watch all the contestants meeting their loved ones, the highlight for every Indian television fan was when Gauri came to meet Hiten. 

It reminded us of the first time, the couple won our collective hearts. Here’s a video:

And Hiten shared a precious father-kid moment with his twins, taking us all the way back to the Kutumb days:
