Fandom

This episode of Game of Thrones was one of the most bloody and epic battles to have been put together for screen. The casualty count was high and here’s us paying tribute to the fallen.

Dolorous Edd

Fandom

The last Lord Commander of the Night’s Watch, Edd was martyred at the Battle of Winterfell.

Lady Lyanna Mormont

Fandom

Always a badass little bear, Lyanna refused to cower in the crypts and was a part of the fourth line of defence at Winterfell. She was crushed by a wight giant but she didn’t go down without a fight and took him down with a spear through his eye.

Beric Dondarrian

Fandom

After his final death, Beric can now rest in peace as his purpose was finally fulfilled. He was possibly around for the sole reason of protecting Arya — the ultimate champion of the living.

Theon Greyjoy

Fandom

Once a Stark ward and eventually Stark traitor, Theon has had a long and harrowing journey. From being broken by Ramsay Bolton to becoming one of the bravest men to stand up to his uncle, Euron Greyjoy, Theon has had a true hero’s voyage. He finally met his poignant end protecting Bran Stark — the ‘adoptive brother’ of sorts he once betrayed and took everything away from. As Bran clearly states, Theon died a good man.

Jorah Mormont

Fandom

Jorah was Daenerys’ trusted aide who had been by her side the longest. He even defended her to his last breath and laid down his life just as the living emerged victorious.

An entire Donthraki Horde

Fandom

At the frontline of the battle, The fierce Dothraki warriors charged at the army of the dead with flaming swords. However they were ripped apart in a matter of minutes giving the battlefield a taste of what is going to befall upon them.

Several Unsullied soldiers

Fandom

The Unsullied went above and beyond their call of duty, being the second in the line of defence, fortifying the castle, and protecting Melisandre when she was firing up the trenches. They all died heroes fighting for the living till the very end.

Melisandre

Fandom

The Red Woman had one of the biggest roles to play in the Battle of Winterfell. She summoned the powers of the Lord of the Light to fire up the trenches buying a little more time for the soldiers at Winterfell. She even helped Arya carry out her prophesied purpose of finally ending the Night King. Melisandre died a true hero in her natural aged state witnessed by Davos as if being absolved of her past crimes.

The Night King

Fandom

The biggest threat to the Seven Kingdoms has fallen at the hands of Arya Stark. She took him down with her Cat’s Paw dagger and her greatest weapons — stealth and training. As he fell, he took with him, the entire army of White Walkers and Wights bringing in clear skies and the dawn of sorts.

Ghost (status unknown)

Fandom

We got a glimpse of this beautiful beast at the beginning of the battle standing beside Jorah and the Dothraki horde. He has most likely met the fate of his brothers and sisters. But we aren’t entirely sure.

Update: According to the episode 4 trailer, Ghost is alive and well. Phew! We were really praying for this one.

You can see a fleeting glimpse of him in the episode 4 trailer.
