April, May and June can officially be classified as Game Of Thrones season. The popular American television series has become an integral part of the lives of people all across the globe.
And while characters dying brutal, abrupt deaths is synonymous with the show, none of them hurt as much as the tragic murder of Jon Snow in the season 5 finale. His death led to widespread disbelief and horror, and the grapevine was rife with theories speculating on his return…
Season 6 of GoT, which is just 2 episodes old, has been fraught with mystery, intrigue and revelations. The 2nd episode titled Home made the biggest revelation; the much awaited and anticipated return of Jon Snow. The Red Priestess, Melisandre, through the use of an incantation, resuscitated the late (now living) Lord Commander of the Night’s Watch in the final seconds of the episode.
Kit Harrington, who plays the beloved character on the show, finally broke his silence and spoke about the pressure of keeping the biggest secret of the show. He was required to act not only onscreen but off-screen as well, the role of an actor whose part in the show had supposedly ended.
“I’d like to say sorry for lying to everyone. I’m glad that people were upset that he died. I think my biggest fear was that people were not going to care. Or it would just be, ‘Fine, Jon Snow’s dead.’ But it seems like people had a, similar to the Red Wedding episode, kind of grief about it. Which means something I’m doing — or the show is doing — is right,” Harington said in a candid interview with Entertainment Weekly.
Though the return of Jon Snow was predicted and expected by almost all the fans, there was always a doubt in the back of their mind wondering ‘what if he doesn’t?’ That doubt, thankfully, has now been put to bed.
The second episode thus comes as a welcome surprise to them (or maybe not). It has however raised the bars of expectation even further, and it remains to be seen what other benders the show throws at its viewers.
The episode 2 ‘Home’ will air on May 3rd at 10:00 PM on Star World Premiere HD.
