While speaking to The Times Of India, Kiku has denied the charges of plagiarism. He, in his defense, said “We are a big team and brainstorm before every episode. Someone cracked this joke and we made it a part of the script. It is possible that the same idea came to our writers, or maybe they had heard it somewhere. It is not that we do not use popular SMS or Whatsapp jokes. We can’t keep track of who cracked what joke and when.”

Ganguly in a Facebook post had accused Kiku of copying his joke on Indian bowlers in the latest episode of The Kapil Sharma Show, featuring women’s national cricket team players Mithali Raj, Veda Krishnamurthy, Jhulan Goswami and Harmanpreet Kaur.

Here’s what his post read:

Claiming his authority over the joke that included Kapil Dev and Zaheer Khan’s name, the YouTube comedian even shared the link of his episode that was published two weeks before the show was on-aired on Sunday.
