1. The Sinner

The brutal crime series revolves around Cora Tannetti, a young mother who for some reason stabs a stranger to death. While even she can’t explain her violent urges and actions, a sympathetic detective tries to unlock her memories in order to solve the mystery.

Nessa Stein, played by Maggie Gyllenhaal is a woman inheriting her father’s arms business but finds herself struggling in a tornado of international proportions as she tries to promote peace and find a middle ground with Israel & Palestine.

3. Peaky Blinders

Peaky Blinders is about the accomplishments of a criminal gang by the same name under the leadership of Tommy Shelby. The gang is based in Birmingham in 1919. While Chief Inspector Chester Campbell decides to nab the leader & put their activities to an end.

Luther revolves around the titular character played the magnificent Idris Elba, who is a genius detective. However, even his brilliant mind can’t save him from the psychological trauma he goes through during every crime he solves.

5. The Punisher

Frank Castle continues his journey from the end of Daredevil season 2 and now spends his time reading Moby Dick & working at a construction site. However, when he finds the need to save a young man and he does, he reveals himself to a whole new story of why his family was butchered and sets out on a path of violent vengeance.

6. American Vandal

American Vandal is basically a mockumentary. It is a satire based on true crime documentaries like the Making of a Murderer. The show revolves around the aftermath of a high school prank gone wrong, that resulted in 27 faculty cars being vandalised.

7. The Crown

The Crown revolves around the life of Queen Elizabeth II from the 1940s and the events that shaped the 20th century. The story starts with her early ascension to the throne following the death of her father, King George VI.

8. Luke Cage

Starting his life all over following the events of Jessica Jones,  Luke Cage finds himself being forced to take over the mantle of the hero of Harlem. The narrative flows smoothly, as do the characters. Luke Cage,  is a Black tribute and we couldn’t be more glad that it happened.

9. Mindhunter

Mindhunter is one of the best Netflix originals that came out in 2017. The story revolves around two FBI agents, Holden Ford & Bill Tench, who attempt to understand the damaged psyches of serial killers in order to catch them.

10. Girl Boss

The series follows the rise of Nasty Gal, a multi-million dollar fashion empire. Britt Robertson nails the lead role of Sophia, a broke and rebellious anarchist who one day decides to sell vintage clothes online.

11. House of Cards (British)

If you have loved the Keven Spacey House of Cards,  you are in for a treat. The British version came way before the American one and is set at the end of Margaret Thatcher’s end of tenure as the British Prime Minister & Francis Urquhart will stop at nothing to get that job.

12. Planet Earth 

If you haven’t watched this yet, we don’t know what you are doing in life. The nature documentary takes you to places discovering the secrets of Earth in the voice of David Attenborough.

Roy Goode, a former protege of Frank Graffin is on the run for betraying the brotherhood of outlaws and takes shelter in the town of La Belle, where he lives with Alice Fletcher, a hardened widower & outcast.

14. Alias Grace

This is the story of a poor Irish immigrant by the name of Grace Marks, who is a servant in Upper Canada. She is convicted of the murder of her employer and his housekeeper in 1843. She serves a life sentence and gradually becomes one of the most notorious women of the 19th century in Canada.

15. The Returned

This is probably one of the most unique zombie shows you will ever watch. Because there is no apocalypse here. The show is set in a small town where several random people who have been dead for years start reappearing.

Vanessa Ives, played by Eva Green recruits a showman called Ethan Chandler & a big game hunter Sir Malcolm to solve a murder. However, the killer turns out to be somewhat more or less than just human.

Two children go missing in a small German town, which leads to its mysterious and sinful past revealing itself. The story also shows the troubled lives of the families searching for the kids.

18. The Defenders

The show is the Avengers of the Marvel TV universe. Dany Rand aka the Immortal Iron Fist is looking for the Hand, the sinister organisation that destroyed his city of Kun Lun when he comes across 3 other heroes, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage & Mathew Murdoch aka Daredevil. Together, they must fight the now resurrected Elektra and save New York.

After spending two decades in prison for a crime he did not commit, Steven Avery files a lawsuit against Manitowoc Country and several other individuals involved in his arrest. However a few weeks later, he finds himself behind bars again for the murder of 25-year-old photographer Teresa Halbach.

20. Twin Peaks

The show is about FBI agent Dale Cooper, who travels to the town of Twin Peaks to solve the murder of a high school girl Laura Palmer. The show is a must watch for the lovers of crime thrillers.

Gently is a private detective who operates his agency on the sole belief about the inter-connectivity of events. With the help of his assistant Richard MacDuff, they investigate a series of unrelated cases that happen to be interconnected with each other.

This is a raunchy animated comedy based on the life of stand-up comic Bill Burr, who is also the co-creator and the executive producer of the series. The lead character Frank. voiced by Burr, is a short-tempered veteran who lives in the suburbs with his wife and three children.

23. Wet Hot American Summer

On the last day of summer camp, a group of councillors try to finish their business before the day ends. The show revolves around these councillors and campers’ life throughout the entire summer of sexual frustrations, PTSD, the talent show among other things.

24. Master Of None

Aziz Ansari plays the role of Dev, a New-York based struggling actor trying to figure out what he really wants. The series is loosely based on his real life and gives us glimpses into the character’s younger years.

25. Disjointed 

The story revolves around Ruth, who is a long time advocate of the legalisation of marijuana. She finally gets a chance to live her dreams when she becomes an owner of a cannabis dispensary in Los Angeles.

26. Big Mouth

Going through puberty can be a difficult adjustment to make, even for an animated character. The lead character Andrew is learning this the hard way. He is helped on his way to being an adult by his friends Nick and Jessi, who develop a romance as the story progresses.

27. One Day At A Time

The story is centred around an army veteran named Penelope, who is now single and is raising her Cuban-American family. They go through several ups and downs in life as Penelope takes on the job of a nurse and raises two children.

The show is based on the life of a 24-year-old shop assistant named Tracey Gordon, who is a restricted and religious virgin but wants to have sex and wants to learn more about the world.

Jessica Jones is a private investigator based out of New York, who was subjected to experimentation at an early age, giving her super strength among other things. If that’s not good enough for you, watch it for David Tenant playing the villainous role of Killgrave.

Obviously, this is a show about love. But if yor are single, this show will make youfell nice about yourself because it shows how fucked up relationships can be.

Atypical is a comedy that follows an autistic teenager Sam, who decides that he is ready for romance. For this, he has to be more independent, which also leads to his mother on her own life-changing path and his family must now accept the new normal.
