It’s a good news for the film fraternity as now the Censor Board has gone online.

Information and Broadcasting minister, Venkaiah Naidu on Monday launched an online film certification system by making the censor board go paperless and transparent for an easy and smooth functioning.

According to a report filed by Mumbai Mirror, the film producers apart from having a minimum interface with the censor board, will now be informed about the status of their online application via messages or emails in case an action is required.

The report also suggests that the applicants of the film with over 10 minutes of duration will only be required to show the film at the Examining Committee theatre and need to visit CBFC office for certification. Others within the aforesaid time limit have a flexibility to submit their film, promos or trailer online.

Even as the suggestions offered by the Government formed committee under an acclaimed filmmaker Shyam Benegal are yet to be implemented, Censor Board Chief Pahlaj Nihalani has often made it to the headlines for coming down as hard on certain films lately, keeping in mind the provided guidelines.
