As the Shah Rukh Khan-starrer Raees finally hits theatres today, there’s much excitement amongst his fans.
It’s a film that’s been in the news for a long time now and ever since the trailer dropped, everyone’s been more than eager to watch King Khan in a never-seen-before avatar.
However, along with established actors like Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Atul Kulkarni, the film also stars Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub.
Playing the part of Sadiq, his character in the film is Raees’ go-to guy. His best friend, confidante and the man who helps him run his business.
Zeeshan might not have the meatiest role in the film but he certainly impresses the audience with his scenes. Every time Raees (SRK) comes up with an outrageous plan, Sadiq is the voice of reason. And Zeeshan does it in his own unique style!
The actor is known for him witty one liners but with Raees, he gets a chance to showcase another side of his talent.
The audience first took note of Zeeshan as Murari in Raanjhanaa (2013).
His presence in the scenes elevated the film and even though it was a small role, his stellar performance was unanimously praised. His witty dialogues were perfectly timed, proving his potential as an actor.
How often do we step out of the theatre praising an actor who was just present in the first half of the movie?
With Raanjhana, the actor got the kind of applause that was quite unexpected.
Later, in Tanu Weds Manu Returns, he played Chintu, the famous ‘kandha’ . In a sequel that starred Kangana Ranaut, R. Madhavan and Jimmy Shergill, Zeeshan walked away with a major chunk of the applause!
But even after the roaring success of Tanu Weds Manu Returns, Zeeshan didn’t get the kind of roles he deserved.
Post the film’s release, he played the villain in the forgettable All is Well (2015) and had a small part in Phantom (2015). These films were so underwhelming, they failed to do anything for this talented performer!
You’d remember that Zeeshan made his debut in 2011’s No One Killed Jessica in a negative role.
The film was based on the Jessica Lal murder case and Zeeshan’s performance as Monu was quite commendable.
Zeeshan has been a student at the National School of Drama and before entering movies, he gathered years of experience on stage.
With Raees, Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub, has gotten a bigger platform to showcase his talent.
When a film has Shah Rukh Khan in the lead role, it definitely gets more eyeballs and as the frenzy around the film increases, we’re sure it will increase Zeeshan’s fan following as well.
But that’s not all. He also has a pivotal role in Kabir Khan’s Tubelight, starring Salman Khan, that releases on June 26.
Here’s hoping he has a great year ahead!
