Actor-director Farhan Akhtar says his sequel to Rock On!! is an attempt to bring North-East into pop culture and also a tribute to its people.

Speaking to Hindustan Times he said, “I wanted to do a film in the North-East. There are North-Eastern students in various parts of India being beaten up and called outsiders. This film is a small attempt to bring the region into popular culture.”

The team has just wrapped up the shoot for Rock On 2 in Shillong.

Farhan, who essayed the role of a rock singer in the first part, says that he was glad to have shot the film in Shillong and that he would love to back there.

In the same report, when asked about his tiff with Abishek Kapoor, he said, ” I don’t want to say too much on this, but there are too many feelings about him which would never go away.” He also added that he didn’t appreciate the idea of friends battling it out in court.

Kapoor, who directed the first Rock On!! film, moved Bombay High Court last year to stall the making of the sequel, claiming that he had been working on it since September 2011 and accused Farhans production banner Excel Entertainment of giving writer Pubali Chaudhuri sole credit for the script.

Despite not being on talking terms with each other, Kapoor revealed that he would definitely team up with Farhan in the future.

“Farhan and me made a very special movie together… I dont know what future holds but if something comes up I will definitely work with him. But now, there is nothing on the table, so there is no point talking about things which don’t exist,” Kapoor had told PTI in January this year.

“Rock On 2!!” is the sequel of the 2008 Indian rock music drama “Rock On!!”, in which Kapoor directed Farhan.

Rock On 2 features Farhan Akhtar, Shraddha Kapoor, Arjun Rampal, Prachi Desai, Purab Kohli set to release this year.
