Chak De India was an inspiration for a lot of women in the country who were excelling at sports but not getting enough recognition for it.

The women who played the hockey players left a lasting impression on us and now, 12 years after the movie was released, this is what they are up to now.

Sagarika Ghatge

Originally a national level hockey player, Ghatge potrayed the role of Preeti Sabharwal. She got married to former cricketer Zaheer Khan in 2017.

Vidya Malvade

Everyone remembers the strong-headed captain of the team who knew exactly what she wanted to do in life. No stranger to fame, Malvade had appeared in films before Chak De India and is now a yoga teacher and enthusiast.

Shilpa Shukla

Her stubborness and no-bullshit attitude definitely impressed the audience back in 2007 when the movie was released. Her acting skills only progressed and she ultimately won a Filmfare Critics Award for Best Actress for B.A Pass.

Chitrashi Rawat

Rawat won many hearts by impeccably playing a tomboy girl from Haryana. After that, she starred in several films like Fashion, Luck, and Tere Naal Love Ho Gaya. She later became a part of a show named Shankar Jaikishan 3 in 1 as Simple Kapoor.

Tanya Abrol

This Punjabi kudi did justice to her character and impressed the audience with her performance. She later appeared in a few TV shows like CID and Yeh Hai Aashiqui.

Anaitha Nair

After this movie, Anaitha did several Hindi and Malyalam movies. She starred in Well Done Abba, Jhootha Hi Sahi and Force. Presently, she lives in Hong Kong with her husband and is a successful hairstylist.

A roadies winner, Mehta was a delight to watch on screen in the film. She isn’t part of the film industry anymore and is happily married now.

Sandia Furtado

She was a real-life hockey player when she was offered the role. Now, she is married to London-based Matteo Busa and is a PR officer at Ernst and Young.
