The freshest series right out of HBO studios is Watchmen. The series, focused on characters inspired by the DC comics of the same name, is based in an alternate reality in USA, where superheroes and vigilantes were branded criminals because of the violence they ensued.
The episodes are available to watch on Hotstar premium. If you’re planning on checking out this version of the famous comics, read these tweets before giving it a go.
Finally watched the #Watchmen premiere. Cool start to the new season of True Detective! But in all seriousness, this looks really intriguing and of course Regina King is dynamically fascinating as always. I’m in for the strange journey of an alternate but not unrealistic USA— Joseph Braverman (@JBAwardsCircuit) October 23, 2019
The watchmen on hbo is so weirdly dark and gritty and fucking good!#Watchmen #WatchmanHBO— Guy Shook (@GuyShook79) October 23, 2019
I just watched the first episode of #Watchmen. I’m not as keen about it as many others. I dislike the idea of the heroes both wearing masks and shooting people. There is a reason why masked heroes in comics avoid killing people, because the idea of a masked killer is repugnant.— Jeremy Wall (@JeremyDaleWall) October 23, 2019
just finished the #Watchmen pilot and hooooly shit 1) The whole cast is so good, Regina King and Don Johnson are so much fucking fun 2) Reznor and Ross are fucking killing it and the score feels so fucking Carpenter like sometimes UGH I love it pic.twitter.com/zOkq6xRHBg— Avry Ott (@AvryRobinOtt) October 23, 2019
I finally watched the first episode of #Watchmen— Murderith 🔪🎃 (@MeredithLoftus) October 23, 2019
1) Regina King is my hero
2) Trent Reznor & Atticus Ross should score everything moving forward
3) I’m so glad I live in a time where this show exists.
I’m an American in my late 30s and had never heard of “Black Wall Street” or the Tulsa Race Riots until tonight. I only learned of them after researching a scene in #Watchmen that I initially assumed was a fictional event because of the aircraft.— Ian Spoopy Frazier (@tibermoon) October 21, 2019
Ok… #watchmen is not a direct sequel to the comic or movie. Just a story that exists in the same universe. That being said, I teared up watching the first cinematic depiction of the Black Wall Street Massacre… pic.twitter.com/JaZjiOIOs7— The Bouncer 👊🏾🇭🇹 (@BOUNCE_COMIC) October 21, 2019
you know America’s education system has failed when the biggest takeaway from the first episode of #Watchmen is that this is the first time so many are learning of the #BlackWallStreet state-sponsored domestic terror attack.— Shared World Stupor (@nofuxremain) October 21, 2019
Watched #Watchmen 2019 television show. This is very poor work. Confused liberal racialism masquerading as a show. Our ‘heroes’ are smug fascist cops and the villains ‘white people amirite?’. It’s very postmodern-ugly, cynical, self-satisfied and preachy. To be avoided 1/10.— Greg Martin (@SelkirkArt) October 23, 2019
#WatchmenHBO episode one was amazing! It was also very heavy but I enjoyed the premise. Plus, #ReginaKing is in it. What more do you need.— Annie Y (@BooksAndBoujee) October 23, 2019
The fact it pissed of prejudice people is just an added bonus. #Watchmen
Me watching #Watchmen unpack historical and current conversations regarding being Black in America all in the first episode. pic.twitter.com/XhjrGz3NMX— Abre’ Conner (@MsAConner) October 23, 2019
Whatever you are doing. Stop. Stop right now and go watch #WatchmenHBO— Dani Andino (@davidswifi) October 23, 2019
I’m serious. Right now. NOW.
I was on the edge of my seat. I cried. I gasped. I laughed. I sat in awe for several minutes afterwards. I n c r e d i b l e. 🙌🏻🙌🏻
#Watchmen: I liked it. Not sure if I loved it. But I’m intrigued the more I think about it. I hope Lindelof isn’t pulling another LOST where he sets up interesting questions only to never answer them or gets stuck when the time comes to deliver those answers.— Shauner (@Shauner111) October 23, 2019
I was hooked within the first three minutes. Made a lot of folks mighty uncomfortable, as it should’ve 🙂#Watchmen— F.Corey (@cfgodwell) October 23, 2019
Always been a huge fan of graphic novels. So imagine my surprise when I see how epic this interpretation of @watchmen is and then see names I know rolled out in the end credits and the involvement of Welsh based creatives. This is a great achievement by all involved. #watchmen— Luke Lockyer (@lukelockyerkeys) October 23, 2019
As a big #Watchmen fan, I love this new modern take on the story but I also love that it keeps the tone and feel from the graphic novel (loved all the references about it too ❤). Absolutely stunning TV, from all the production values to the acting. SUPERB. #WatchmenHBO— José G. #TURNOFFTHELIGHT OUT NOW (@leatherface66) October 23, 2019
Based on the first episode, #Watchmen has the potential to be one of the best shows of the year. Amazing score, visually incredible, weird, grotesque and violent. @HBO better release this on 4K— Danny B (@Danbremner1996) October 23, 2019
My problem with #Watchmen is a criticism of adult super hero movies in general. While #Joker peels off the layers of the mystique, unglamorized violence and childish attachment, Watchmen plays into the fantasy. It takes adult issues like race and puts underpants on it.— BRhodes (@b_rhod) October 22, 2019
1st episode of #Watchmen is enough to get me to watch the 2nd, but only just.— Chris Murray (@chrismurraylaw) October 22, 2019
Nicely made, but script plays it so close to the chest you don’t really learn anything the trailer didn’t tell you.
Of course it’s Lindelof, so there will likely never be any satisfactory answers.
Just saw the first episode of #Watchmen and all I can say is Lindelof and co know what they’re doing. Every frame, every action — meticulous. Fans of the comic (and those turned off by the movie) will likely find something to love here— Jason Courtar (@Jason_Dar) October 22, 2019
Tried to watch #Watchmen #WatchmenHBO but had to turn off at the 34 min mark. I literally dunno if there’s been a cool bit or if a jokes been made. The show is well below rubbish.— Papa Fuzz (@PapaFuzzFFVIIAC) October 22, 2019
