From Raazi to Uri: The Surgical Strike, it has been established by now that Vicky Kaushal’s army officer avatar is a sure shot hit amongst his fans.
In continuation to those drool-worthy characters, Vicky had recently shared the first look of him portraying Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw in a biopic which is directed by Meghna Gulzar. The picture, which had a striking resemblance to Manekshaw was highly praised by the fans.

But even though the first look had an uncanny similarity to Manekshaw’s picture, it seemed like the Indian Army did not quite approve it. Retd Lt. Gen Syed Ata Hasnain took to Twitter to point out certain mistakes in the uniform, which for starters included incorrect badges.
Woukd love it if consulted. Lt Gen Deepinder Singh, his MA, is there to give everything on him. Vicky Kaushal, for starters is wearing wrong colour badges of rank. Sam was a Gurkha, never wore brass, always black badges. I am proud to wear that too being a Garhwali Bhulla. https://t.co/S4BG2lKHuW

Many netizens too agreed that the image had some glaring errors.
@vickykaushal09 You should read this. And inform the producers. Bad research on their part to get basics wrong. Shudder to think what they will do with his story.

Actually, when I see it in detail, there are a lot of deviations…lanyard, gorget patches, ribbons..etc. Even the material and colour of the uniform..

Sir I recommend that all inputs to the producers should be processed as valuable inputs and the ESM and Regimental fraternity should become a stakeholder and a trust in the name of the Great General be the beneficiary which can later use the proceeds to keep his legacy alive.

The movie is set to release in 2021.
