GoT fans, if you were wondering what to do with your life after the series finale next year, we’ve got great news for you.

HBO has officially announced a Game of Thrones prequel series!

The pilot is being discussed as we speak and a lot of speculation is doing the rounds about what is in store for Westeros.

According to the Hollywood Reporter,

“The series will chronicle ‘the world’s descent from the golden Age of Heroes into its darkest hour.’ The logline almost certainly refers to a fabled moment that every man, woman and child in Westeros knows about all too well: the Long Night and the War for the Dawn.”

So according to all those familiar buzzwords we’ve heard during the course of the series we’re going about 10,000 years back in time with the prequel.

Somewhere around the time the first Whitewalker was created.

The Wall was built.

And shit went down with the coming of the ‘long night’.

Essentially everything we’ve been hearing through the unreliable narrators will come to life in a series of its own.

The pilot is being co-written by George RR Martin and screenwriter extraordinaire, Jane Goldman.

Goldman’s past work includes the Kingsman series, X-Men: First Class, X-Men: Days of Future Past, and several more heavyweights that prove she’s pretty perfect for the task.

So, the eighth season of GoT doesn’t mean it’s the end of televised A Song of Ice and Fire. So we can all breath easy even after the show ends.
