Wanna travel back in time? Turns out a flight delay works just fine for time travel.
Passengers aboard Hawaiian Airlines flight HAL446 travelled back in time on New Year’s Day. They got two opportunities to welcome 2018 and bid adieu to 2017.
The anomaly was noticed by US journalist Sam Sweeney and posted on Twitter.

The flight was scheduled to take off from Auckland at 11:55 PM on New Year’s Eve and land in Honolulu at 9:45 AM on the same day. An unexpected delay of 10 minutes occurred and the flight took off at 12:05 AM on 1 January, 2018 and landed at 10:16 AM on 31 December, 2017.
And of course, the post blew Twitter’s minds.

That happens every time a plane crosses the current midnight line – think of it as the border between the kingdoms of 2017 and 2018 – in the wrong direction on New Year’s. In other words, it happens a lot. Still seems to surprise a lot of people every year.
