“Yoga keeps you in shape.”
“Yoga is beneficial for back pain.”
“Yoga improves your mental health.”
What people giving such advice don’t realise is that doing yoga isn’t as easy as it seems because it’s much more than kapalbhati and anulom vilom. And if you’ve ever tried yoga, you’d know the ‘ground’ realities associated with it.

Adriana Rodríguez León, an illustrator, shows how things turn out in reality, when you start practising yoga, and trust me it’s nothing like they show in the videos and on Instagram.
Uh! My legs.
My shoulders will definitely fall.
Literally falling head over heels.
Bas taang toot ke haath mein na aa jaaye.
Slipping. slipping, slipping… Thud!
The belly for which I am doing all this, hurts.
Hope I don’t stumble over.
Ah, this one’s comfortable. Well wait, even this hurts.
If only it was that easy to straighten my knee.
I could have done this easily, but I think my face is too big.
Meditation is the key, but distractions abound.
The only thing I do easily while performing this pose is *burp*.
Yass, I can do this.
Where are my feet?
When and how did I gain so much weight?
Don’t bend it like Beckham.
I feel my ribs will fall apart.
Don’t wanna break my head.
I would rather relax in such a pose than do yoga.
The bend, the stretch, the breath, everything is painful.
