Who doesn’t like getting drunk, wild and crazy? Feeling the world spin and seeing it all in a blur has its own great irreplaceable sensation. But sometimes, your body craves a break from all that booze. Yes, sober October is over, but did you not think it was worth it? Or did you just ignore it, thinking to yourself ‘who gives a damn?’ Or wait, did you even know about it.
Well, maybe it’s high time you consider taking a month off alcohol. Here’s why…
Studies have found that staying off booze for four weeks can actually benefit you in quite a few amazing ways. It helps in lowering blood pressure and blood sugar, improves sleep and concentration and helps you lose weight.
So it’s not like your liver is not noticing your break from alcohol. The American Association for the Study of Liver Disease conducted a research on 102 subjects who had a dry January, and the results are quite cool.
All of them found a reduction in liver stiffness caused by fibrous scarring in the liver. Fibrous scarring can cause cirrhosis of the liver and irreversible damage that can lead to liver failure. More importantly, blood pressure levels of all those who participated fell, as did their resistance to insulin, reducing the likelihood of developing diabetes.
And if this solitary study is not enough to motivate you to stay off booze for a while, there are plenty more reasons you should consider the break.
When you’re on a booze break, a lot of toxins are washed out of your body. These toxins affect our metabolism, behaviour, immune system, and leads to disease. They are stored all through our body, even our tissues and brain. When you take a break from alcohol, the water you drink acts as a cleanser and washes them out.
Taking a break from booze will also be a recovery phase for your immune system. All that harm that has been done due to consuming those extra pegs will be undone and you’ll be fit as a fiddle again.
Of course, your one month off alcohol will help you lose a few pounds, but whats better is that you’ll look like you’ve lost a few years too. Keeping off booze will prevent premature ageing as you will be absorbing more nutrients from everything you eat, opposed to when the alcohol soaks all the nutrients up.
Four weeks and you’ll see the difference! You’ll have better skin, more energy and the level of productivity of your life is going to shoot up the ceiling. When your body systems are aligned you even tend to be more positive and mentally stable. And guess how you could get there? Give your body a month off alcohol.
And that’s not even the best part. Staying a while off alcohol restores balance to our functional systems. Our digestive, nervous, and hormonal systems were designed to work together to achieve optimum health. This is what our bodies want to do! When we overload them with alcohol intake, it goes all wrong, making us vulnerable to sickness. A few weeks of sacrifice can replenish your entire system and prep you up for another series of party nights.
