Yasmin Munira, winner of Singaporean talent hunt The Singtel Masti Miss Starlet 2015 was stripped of her title barely hours after she was crowned. The contest was jointly organised by Singtel TV and MediaCorp’s expat Bollywood music station Radio Masti.

The title was revoked after offensive tweets made by Munira came to light. Yasmin’s tweets reflect an attitude of extreme judgement and hatred. She regularly used the social media platform to voice her opinions against “fat and ugly” people; especially Singaporeans.

“Why is it so hard for fat people to understand that they should not occupy seats on the train?”, she tweeted.

In another tweet, she commented “Singaporeans are so ugly…”, and added that “putting in a little bit of effort to look good won’t kill you”.

The organiser’s statement has been reproduced in full below:

“To All Concerned:

This is an important statement. The Singtel Masti Miss Starlet 2015 winner, Yasmeen Munira’s title has been revoked with immediate effect.

This is due to some irresponsible statements made by her recently which reflect very negative on her as an individual.

Neither Singtel TV nor Radio Masti were aware of the same and as soon as the statements were brought to our attention earlier today, this action has been taken. The title has since been moved on to Ms Vijayalakshmi, the first runner up.

We apologize for any inconvenience caused. Signed off: Singtel Masti Miss Starlet 2015 organizing committee.”

The winner, Yasmeen Munira has since put up a detailed post on Facebook, apologising for her statements. She has deactivated her Twitter account in a bid to start afresh.
