Imagine this: you sit on the couch in your living room watching TV. There are no interesting shows on, so you switch to a channel that runs movies. Inside the kitchen, the microwave is heating up your dinner. The air outside is as stuffy as an Indian summer could be, so the air conditioning is on full blast. As soon as it gets cold enough, you turn it down a notch. Of course, this doesn’t sound like anything different from a regular Sunday afternoon, except it is more than what thousands of people ever get to experience.
The video below, by Pepsi, brings to the forefront an important issue: even after decades of development, there are still some villages in India that do not even have the basic infrastructure to set up a decent system that provides electricity. In fact, since the houses are devoid of windows, some of them do not receive light even during the day.
That’s why Pepsi partnered with #LiterofLight, a global grassroots movement committed to providing affordable, sustainable solar light to people with limited or no access to electricity. Together, they are working to bring light to remote villages in the country, using only an empty bottle of Pepsi. Thanks to their efforts, chasing light isn’t a distant dream anymore for numerous people.
