… and as someone who appreciates the sheer skill of the sport, I often find myself in awe of the cricketing talent in this country. To be able to play in the big leagues with their favourite cricketers is the burning dream of many. Sadly, most of those dreams are put on the backburner, when they realize their aspirations are probably too grand to be true. But all that is about to change. Muthoot Pappachan Group is organizing a street cricket tournament aptly called the ‘League of Dreams‘ to give these kids a platform to shine. And since any cricketing affair is incomplete without a stalwart lineup, they have got legends like Brett Lee, Zaheer Khan, Herschelle Gibbs and Jonty Rhodes too.

To get people to sign up, they invited stories of pure cricketing passion from the aspiring street cricketers for India to vote on. Hundreds of entries rolled in and we got our pick of the most inspiring tales we could find. Here are some of the ones that really grew on me.
This is Sailesh’s story, whose passion for the game doesn’t see night or day, despite hours of hard labour that he puts in.
Arvind’s dream of one day playing on the same seasoned pitch which he now mows and maintains gave us *feels*
This is Ashish’s story, an off-spin maestro in the streets who just wants his father to be proud of him
… And lastly, this aptly named ‘Dhulaai Master’ playing with borrowed bats who dreams of opening for India at the Wankhede Stadium.
