Just last year a horrifying video of a student throwing a dog from a balcony went widely viral on the internet. And now another incident has come to light where a student threw a month-old puppy from the terrace of his house, with the puppy dying immediately.

According to The News Minute, the act was carried out on 24th October by 21-year-old Vishesh Igneyar, a mechanical engineering student from a reputed college in Vellore. It was reported to welfare worker Shravan Krishnan by some other students of the same college who were taking care of the puppy.

In a Facebook post, Shravan reproduced the message he received from the caretakers. The college students had taken an injured puppy in and were taking care of him.

This is what the college students had messaged Shravan:

“We took in a 1 month old puppy who was attacked by other big street dogs, badly bruised. We got him vaccinated, fed him daily and were so thankful for his presence in our lives. He was a small bundle of love and in no time everyone in the house got attached to him.

Sadly, one unfortunate day he wandered out of the house and reached the house of Vishesh Iyengar. This person, Vishesh, already had a history of torturing the street puppies by placing them at high heights and waiting for them to fall down. This animal, Vishesh, took the puppy to the terrace and threw him off and the puppy died on the spot. Upon investigation from his neighbours we got to know that our puppy wasn’t the only one he had killed and just a day ago he had thrown another black puppy off the terrace. Also, after killing the first puppy he posted on a whatsapp group ‘1 down, 1 more to go, doggy tales’ and upon questioning by the group members he openly admitted that he had killed a puppy. With his message it is clearly evident that he already had plans of getting his hands on the other puppy (our pet).”

It is alleged that this was not the first puppy to meet such a fate at Vishesh’s hands. He had killed a black puppy and sent “1 down 1 more to go” message to his friends implying he had his eyes on the 1-month old puppy.

After these students got in touch with Shravan, he filed an FIR at the Katpadi police station on Wednesday.

Sharavan told The News Minute that Vishesh allegedly committed these crimes at his residence, from the terrace.

Shravan has also posted a video of the people burying the dead puppy by digging a hole in the ground.

Shravan told The News Minute:

“These crimes are becoming very common. Almost every day we get calls about such incidents of animal cruelty at the hands of students. We have been trying to convince colleges, no matter what course they teach, to include animal welfare in their curriculum to teach these students compassion.”

Apparently, the guy lacks any remorse or compassion. He is not even sorry for the things he has done!

An FIR has been filed against Vishesh under IPC Section 429 (Mischief by killing or maiming cattle, etc. of any value or any animal of the value of fifty rupees). Vishesh has also been booked under section 11 (1) of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act which defines cruelty to animals.

Shravan also talked about how these cases have started being reported in recent times as people come forward and speak about these issues or use social media to spread awareness. However, the laws are outdated and the punishment is abysmally little.
