Vietnam’s controversial low-cost airlines VietJet, known for its bikini-clad flight attendants, is going to start direct flights from New Delhi to Ho Chi Minh City by the end of this year, according to CN Traveller.

VietJet launched its first commercial flights in December 2011 and soon became Vietnam’s second-largest airline. The budget airline is also known for its controversial PR stunts. Back in 2011, it received huge backlash for releasing a series of photographs of women dressed in bikinis as part of an advertising campaign.

The airline soon gained popularity as the ‘Bikini Airline’.

The flight’s female crew apparently still wear a bikini on special flights.

While VietJet is quite popular in Vietnam due to its low fares, it remains to be seen how the airlines will be received in India.
