Meet Kate McClure. She was helped by a homeless man who bought petrol for her car with his last 20 dollars.

Kate McClure was on her way to Philadelphia when she ran out of petrol. She tried to go as far as she could but eventually her car gave in.

Having no money on her, Kate panicked. She later wrote about the incident:

“My heart was beating out of my chest. I pulled over as far as I could, and got out of the car to head to the nearest gas station.”

A homeless man named Johnny must have noticed her plight as he came up to her and asked her to get back to her car and lock the doors. 

Meanwhile, he went to the nearest store and showed up with a can of gas. He had basically spent all his money to help her out. 

Kate later wrote about this incident and how this random act of kindness by a complete stranger left a profound impact on her. 

She gave him a jacket, gloves, a hat, and warm socks, and a few dollars every time she saw him.

Obviously, Kate wanted to do something more concrete for Johnny and therefore started a fundraiser to help Johnny out.

“I believe that with a place to be able to clean up every night and get a good night’s rest, his life can get back to being normal.

The story clearly touched many chords and while Kate wasn’t hoping to raise a lot of money, surprisingly enough, she ended up raising nearly $289,950 (at the time of writing this article) from more than 7,500 people. 

This is so heart-warming. We hope Johnny gets a better life.

Truly, an act of kindness doesn’t go unnoticed.
