In an unusual medical case in the US, 60-year-old Bernard Grice is reportedly suffering from ‘gynecomatia’, a non-cancerous increase in the size of male breast tissues. What is so unusual about this case is that the enlargement has occurred due to excessive intake of soy milk.

According to Sickchirpse, after turning vegan, Bernard had switched to soy products.

Soy beans are rich in phytoestrogens which have weak estrogen (female hormone) activity. This led to the enlargement of his breast tissues.

When he noticed the growth in his breasts, he started researching online and found out about isoflavones. He also started experiencing emotional imbalance and became a lot more emotional.

At first I found drinking the soy milk was fine. But after a few months I noticed that my chest area was very tender and I was becoming increasingly emotional. I would cry at movies, which isn’t something I have done before.

This is not the only case of gynecomatia due to excessive intake of soy milk. A similar case has also occurred in UK this year.

Perhaps too much of everything is as bad as too little.
