A 23-year-old man in Mumbai has been sentenced to six months of jail term for shouting ‘ I love you, you love me’ at a minor.

The case dates back to September 2014, when Nitin Durgade, a resident of Chembur, sexually assaulted a 17-year old when she was reportedly returning from her college in South Mumbai.

According to Indian Express, the incident took place at Kurla station where in a general compartment of a train the man outraged the girl’s modesty by loudly shouting ‘I love you, you love me’ at her.

The brave girl, however, confronted her stalker who was later was caught by the commuters after failing to flee.

He was then taken into custody by the Government Railway Police. An FIR was filed on the basis of girl’s complain and he was arrested under Section 12 of the POCSO Act and IPC Section 354 (sexual harassment).

Though Durgade sought bail in 2015, his plea was duly rejected for failing to submit permanent resident proof. He was, however, granted bail in 2016 by the special POCSO court after it was observed that he had served jail term for ‘sufficient time’, reported India.com. He had paid a surety of Rs 15,000.
