As per a Times of India report, Jigisha, who worked as operations manger with Hewitt, was abducted from outside her home in Vasant Vihar area of South Delhi on March 18, 2009 after she was dropped by a taxi after a late night shift at work. 

The accused approached her on the pretext of asking for an address, shoved her into the car and took away her belongings. They forced her to share her ATM pin and after withdrawing money, killed her and dumped her body on Surajkund-Faridabad road in Haryana.

They were caught after being recorded on security cameras while withdrawing money from Jigisha’s account and shopping in South Delhi market, told NDTV.

The three accused – Amit Shukla, Baljeet Malik and Ravi Kapoor – have also been accused of killing a TV Journalist Soumya Vishwanathan in September 2008 while returning home in her car from work late in the night. Police had claimed that the motive behind both the murders was robbery. 

Jigisha’s parents, who have been facing threat calls and the never ending proceedings for the past seven-and-a-half-years, want life imprisonment for their daughter’s murderers.

“No punishment can give justice to us and our daughter. But least we can wish for is life imprisonment for the killers. She would have been 34 this year,” Jigisha’s mother Sabita told TOI.

The court has held them guilty of the offences of murder, abduction, robbery, forgery and common intention under the IPC and fixed August 20 for hearing of the arguments on the quantum of sentence.
