Countries across Europe have wrestled with the issue of the Muslim veil. And in a latest diktat on the veil, Germany on Thursday banned wearing of full face veil for its civil servants, judges and soldiers.

Here’s a list of how different continents across Europe deal with the veil:

Germany – Partial ban on covering the face

Austria – May ban full-face veils

France – Banned full-face veil in 2011

Belgium – bans full-veil that makes one “unidentifiable”

Britain – no government ban but allows agencies to frame rules regarding the veil

Bulgaria – Lawmakers have approved a law on the ban on veils

Italy – no ban on full-face veils

 Netherlands – ban under examination
