On Sunday, the entire nation woke up to the news of Karan Johar becoming a single father to twins through surrogacy. The filmmaker took to social media to release a statement expressing his joy at the birth of his children – Yash and Roohi.
While B-town celebrities including Shahrukh Khan, Alia Bhatt and Varun Dhawan took to Twitter to wish Johar on this joyous occasion, Samajwadi Party leader Abu Azmi mocked him for opting for surrogacy.
“Couldn’t he get a girl to marry? And if not, then there are so many poor people. He could have adopted two or four. It looks as if he is mocking the poor,” Azmi told the reporters in Mumbai, reports ANI.

He said it seems as if God has made a match for everyone but Karan Johar.
“He should get married and if he is incapable of that or has some illness, he can tell. It’s quite possible that the poor fellow cannot get married due to medical reasons and I don’t mean to mock him but he is big enough to adopt a kid if not get married. Why resort to this drama of surrogacy?” he said.
Johar has become the third Bollywood celebrity to opt for surrogacy after Shah Rukh Khan and Tusshar Kapoor.
