After heading India’s premier FMCG brand for 17 years, Adi Godrej, Godrej Consumer Products Limited (GCPL) chief has now made way for his daughter. The company on Tuesday announced that the 39-year-old Nisaba Godrej will now take charge as the Executive Chairman of CGPL.  

Adi Godrej, who turned turned 75 this year, will now be appointed as the chairman emeritus, reports Mint. The move will be effective from Wednesday, May 10.

Nisaba, who is also known as Nisa, is a graduate from Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania, and an MBA from Harvard Business School. She is married to Kalpesh Mehta, a Wharton graduate who is a real estate baron. The couple also has a son named Zoran, reports Economic Times.

Nisaba  was responsible for ‘Project Leapfrog’ in 2007, which helped GCPL grow in emerging markets such as Africa, Indonesia and Latin America. A report by Hindu Business Line says that GCPL’s capitalisation increased from Rs 3,000 crore to Rs 60,000 crore after she joined.

She is the younger daughter of Adi Godrej. Her elder sister daughter Tanya Dubash, 48, is the executive director, Godrej Industries and is also chief brand officer of Godrej Group.
