After Bihar recently imposed a complete ban on liquor, demands for a similar step in Jharkhand comes from within the ranks of the BJP-led government of the state.
In a letter written to Chief Minister Raghuvar Das, Chandra Prakash Choudhary, water resources minister, suggested that in the lines of Bihar, Jharkhand too should implement a complete liquor ban, reported Indian Express.
He added that the trouble and stress that women undergo if a male member is addicted to liquor is known to one and all. Therefore, he suggested banning liquor, which would help put an end to a host of problems otherwise faced by a large number of families.
Labour Minister, Raj Paliwar, who is BJP MLA from Madhupur in Deoghar district, too, has been advocating the same.
Earlier, Tamil Nadu CM Jayalalithaa, assured implementation of total prohibition on liquor in the state in a phased manner. Elections in Tamil Nadu are due in the month of May.
