Expressing displeasure over the loss in the final match of the India South Africa ODI series, team director Ravi Shastri has allegedly abused the field curator, Sudhir Naik.

Shastri has reportedly taunted the curator, over the nature of wicket that was prepared for final match at the Wankhede stadium.“Great wicket,” followed by an expletive, is what he is alleged to have said.

The issue has been taken up with MCA officials including Vice President Dilip Vengsarkar. Naik took offense on Shastri’s remark and asked him not to question his ability to prepare wickets. Naik could possibly lodge an official complaint with Board of Cricket Control in India (BCCI).

In the final match of the recently concluded India South Africa ODI series, India lost while chasing a mammoth total of 438 for four with three batsmen – Quinton de Kock, Faf du Plessis and skipper AB de Villiers scoring centuries. Indian team managed to score a total of 224.

The priority should remain on learning from the past mistakes. Blaming the curator or players is not the solution at any point in time. They anyway shouldn’t be dependent on the state of the pitch. Better results can only be achieved if the focus remains on the game rather than the blame game.
