Upset commuters held a protest at Diva station in Thane district on Tuesday after local train services were suspended due to water logging on the tracks. Angry commuters, who were stranded at the station, protested on the railway tracks.

Due to heavy rains and the subsequent water logging, train services on the suburban network of Central Railway’s Main and Harbour line were badly hit, with most trains suspended and others delayed.

The Railways had, incidentally, advised commuters not to travel by trains at all unless it was absolutely necessary.

For the convenience of passengers, it also tweeted out that the city’s bus service had been advised to arrange for extra vehicles to transport commuters to areas that trains weren’t able to reach.

In the end, order was restored at Diva after Thane police personnel reached the spot and dispersed the crowd.
