The Ajmer Dargah chief who urged that the government should ban beef consumption in order to promote communal harmony, has reportedly been removed from his post, says Aaj Tak.
Dargah Deewan Zainul Abedin Ali Khan has been allegedly removed by his brother Allaludin Aalim, who declared himself the new Dargah chief.
Zainul Anedin Khan on Monday declared that he and his family members will not eat beef and said that the government should declare cow as the national animal.
“The government should widely impose ban on slaughtering of all bovine animals and sale of beef, which is one of the prominent reasons for communal hatred. Muslims should become an example by taking resolution to not consume beef in the interest of communal harmony in the country,” Zainul said.
While appreciating the Gujarat government’s move to enact a law with the provision of life sentence for those found guilty of cow slaughter, the Dewan also said that the Centre should declare cow as a national animal and that it is a duty of every follower of the religion to protect it.
