Former England cricketer Andrew Flintoff has revealed his team had cheated during the 2005 Ashes Series win in England.
Flintoff told Channel 10’s The Project that England went against the rules and the spirit of cricket when they used an illegal substitute fielder during one of the matches.
He said the substitute was England fielder Gary Pratt, who ran Australian captain Ricky Ponting out with a direct hit in the fourth Test at Trent Bridge.
Ponting had expressed his frustration on the field since he believed Pratt was substituted only to give one of the England fast bowlers some rest.
Here is the video of the interview:
However, after making the admission on The Project , Flintoff wrote on Twitter that his comment about the run out was in jest.
I cheated I bowled too fast & hit the ball too hard ,before knickers are twisted I appear to be joking @theprojecttv https://t.co/t2vMzlWpbh
