Anil Kumble’s already getting into the groove with his new job – the India head coach is set to meet India U-19 coach Rahul Dravid and the two captains Virat Kohli and MS Dhoni in Bangalore during a camp at the National Cricket Academy.

Kumble will also meet the NCA coaches and the senior and junior selection committees, a report in the Indian Express said. The purpose is to lay out a proper feeder system and set the long-term agenda for Indian cricket. Kumble wants those at the meeting to come up with suggestions on how to enhance India’s bench-strength.

Kumble seems to have an ambitious long-term plan despite being given just a one-year contract by the BCCI.

“Kumble wants things to run in a smoother fashion especially at the India A and U-19 level. He also wants for the coaching at the NCA to be more streamlined. It will be a meeting that’s first of its kind and it’s imperative that all the stakeholders present their views,” a top BCCI official was quoted as saying in the report.

Kumble has impressed one-and-all with his approach so far – be it how he handled the Ravi Shastri-Sourav Ganguly spat (as you can see in the video above), or with his inclusive approach.

He also said that his first focus would be on working with India’s bowlers:

At this point in time, I thought that with the bowlers, it is the strategy that I can certainly play a part of and that’s something which I am looking at, trying to get closer to the bowlers, understanding what their needs are.
