The incident is a horrific reminder of the Ballabgarh lynching case as it happened near Asaoti railway station, where 15-year-old Junaid Khan was killed by a mob in June this year. The teenager was stabbed to death on-board a Mathura-bound train.

According to a Times of India report, it all started when when a group of youths asked Lalit to move from his seat when they were near Ballabhgarh. However, it soon turned into a lethal fight when the youths pushed the two victims off the train. The victims belong to Tikri Brahmin village in Palwal district.

The injured, Lalit, has suffered serious injuries and is recuperating at a hospital but is not in a position to give testimony to the police. Police have registered a case against the arrested accused, reports India Today.

In August, Minister of State for Railways, Rajen Gohain told Lok Sabha that 351 cases of fighting and quarrel with passengers in trains have been reported since January. However, there was no figure about the number of fatalities or injuries these quarrels have led to.

ScoopWhoop News had compiled a list of several cases of fatal quarrels between passengers while travelling through train. At least four men have lost their lives on these routes in the last six months alone. All disputes occurred over seats.
