As a 'gift' to all the sisters in the National Capital, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has announced free travel for women on DTC and cluster buses from October 29th.
According to Times Now, this announcement was made in Chhatrasal Stadium, while addressing the Delhi Government during an Independence Day event.
The Chief Minister further added:
On the day of Raksha Bandhan, I want to give a gift to our sisters that there will be free rides for women on all DTC (Delhi Transport Corporation) and cluster buses from October 29, which will ensure their safety.
As we have seen before, the AAP government has been working on an initiative to make public transport free for women. In June, the party proposed to waive metro charges for women, which was not passed in the Lok Sabha.
