The best cities ranking is compiled by global education consultancy QS Quacquarelli Symonds, and they look at each city’s performance across 6 categories – the number of top-ranked universities; the proportion of a city’s population made up of students; quality of life on offer; job opportunities available after graduation; affordability; and the feedback of the students themselves.

On the global front, London has topped the rankings becoming the best city for students worldwide.

London’s Mayor Sadiq Khan, who actively campaigned for international students to come to London, said,

The fact that London has again been ranked the best city in the world in which to be a student is fantastic news – and is no surprise given that London is home to world-leading higher education institutions and a vibrant cultural life. This is further evidence that London is open to students and talent from around the world

Tokyo and Melbourne were second and third on the rankings respectively. European cities find majority spots in top ranking with Munich (4th), Berlin (5th), Paris (7th) and Zurich (8th). Montreal is at number 6, while Sydney (9th) and Seoul (10th) round off the top 10 cities in the world for students.
