It's yet another day to celebrate the women in India as Lieutenant Bhawana Kanth becomes the first fighter pilot in our country's history to qualify to undertake daily combat missions.
Bhawana has completed her day operations syllabus as a fighter pilot on the MiG-21 Bison aircraft. She has been posted in Rajasthan where she will run these day to day operations with her squadron.
This IAF officer is born and bought up in Bihar. She has completed her solo flight in MiG-21 along with all the flying stages from technical flying, combat flying, including air to air combat and air to ground combat with flying colors.
An ecstatic Bhawana quotes:
After clearing my Stage I training, I got the golden opportunity to opt for the fighter stream. The best and the biggest thing that has happened to me and the best part is it is just the beginning. It is my aim to become a good fighter pilot and fight for the nation and make my parents proud.
Not very far behind are female fighter pilots Flight Lieutenant Avani Chaturvedi and Flight Lieutenant Mohana Singh who will soon be adding yet another feather to Indian Airforce's cap.
