President Ram Nath Kovind’s daughter Swati has been compelled to make a new choice in her career – courtesy, her father.

An air hostess till last month, Swati has been assigned ground duties by the airlines due to security reasons, a PTI report said.

Swati worked as a cabin crew on Air India’s long-haul Boeing 787 and Boeing 777 flights. As a cabin crew member, she had to fly long haul routes to Europe, America, Australia and the far east, a report in the Times of India says.

However, soon after the election of Kovind as India’s 14th president in July, she has been deputed with Air India’s integration department at Air India’s headquarters in New Delhi – a posting which doesn’t involve cabin duties.

Swati had closely followed and assisted her father after the announcement of his nomination as BJP’s presidential candidate. In fact, she had taken a leave to help Kovind’s campaign. Interestingly, while applying for the leave, Swati, who uses only a single name, hadn’t mentioned that her father was campaigning for the post of president. But that wasn’t possible anymore once her father became president, the TOI report added.

Working on her new post since last month, her current position involves overseeing human resource integration of erstwhile Indian Airlines and Air India since their merger in 2007.

“As a President’s daughter I don’t think she can fly as a crew with security personnel around. It is not possible to block so many passenger seats,” an airline source told PTI.
